Activity 1
Build a square
Duration: 7-10 minutes
What do you need?
- 4 Cotton buds; or ice cream sticks, or straws (of the same size)
- square drawn on a cardboard as guidance
What to do:
- Demonstrate to your child how to build a square using any of the resources.
- Now let them do by themselves using the drawn square as a visual guide.
- Sing: A square is like a box,(x2)
It has 4 corners and 4 sides.

Activity 2
Fine motor creative activity: tearing and pasting square
Duration: 7-10 minutes
What do you need?
- A pre-drawn square (ensure that outlines of shape are clear and bold)
- Green paper or newspaper
- glue
What to do:
- Have learner tear up green paper (*make sure he/she uses the correct tearing action to support good bilateral hand function)
- Next have your child apply glue to the shape and then paste torn paper pieces onto the pre-drawn square.
- Continue to sing the square song as with previous activity.
Activity 3
Story: Rabbit ears
Duration: 5-10 minutes
What do we need?
- Copy of the story for child to either listen to or read along by use of a book/picture
What to do?
- Tell your child the story/have him/her watch and listen to it via a book, pictures or visual-audio device.
- Remember to have your child try and retell the story to you.
