Activity 1
Creative art activity: Caterpillar craft
Duration: 20-30 minutes
What do I need?
- Paint (Green and red)
- A4 colour paper or white paper
- Empty Toilet rolls (two)
- Crayons
What to do:
- Have your child dip one toilet roll in the red paint and place it on the page on the far-left hand side, (in the center section of the page) to make the circle for the face of the caterpillar
- When your child has completed, instruct him/her to dip the other toilet roll in the green paint to make the body of the caterpillar, by making circle stamps next to the red stamp till the end of the page. Ensure that he/she works from left to right.
- Allow the artwork to dry in a sunny area
- Once dry, your child can draw eyes and antennas the caterpillar
- He/she may then also add feet (2 feet per circle, or as many as they wish)
Activity 2
Fine motor Activity: Making a man
Duration 15-20 minutes
What do I need?
- Empty Toilet Roll
- Scissors
- Crayons
- Markers
- Decorations- Ribbon, glitter, glue, stickers
What to do:
- Using crayons, have your child colour the top of the toilet paper roll any colour of their choice for the hair of the man
- Next have your child then draw a face below the hair
- Allow your child to then cut the hair into thin strips using the scissor (*Parents to assist only if necessary )
- When done cutting, the child should fluff out the hair and decorate it as they desire.
Activity 3
Physical Activity: Wall push
Duration: 5-10 minutes
What to do:
- Parents tell their child that the wall is falling down and ask their child to push it to keep it up
- Child places one hand on the wall and try and keep elbow slightly bent.
- Parents can have their child push for ten seconds
- Repeat Activity
