Activity 1

Fine motor creative activity: tearing and pasting square 

Duration : 7 – 10 minutes

What do you need?

  • A pre-drawn square on a clean A4 sheet of paper (ensure that outlines of shape are clear and bold)
  • Green paper or newspaper
  • Glue
  • crayons

What to do:

  1. Have learner tear up green paper (make sure he/she uses the correct tearing action)
  2. Next have your child apply glue to the shape and then paste torn paper pieces onto the pre-drawn square.
  3. Continue to sing the square song as with the previous activity.
  4. As an extension to the activity, have your child turn the completed square into part of a house by assisting with drawing a triangle above it to serve as roof. Allow for any additional drawings with the available crayons.

Activity 2

Story: Rabbit ears

Duration: 5-10 minutes

What do we need?

  • Copy of the story for child to either listen to or read along by use of a book/picture

What to do?

  1. Tell your child the story/have him/her watch and listen to it via a book, pictures or visual-audio device.
  2. Remember to have your child try and retell the story to you.

Activity 3

Colour hunt

Duration 5-10 minutes

What you need 

  • Any safe to play with Green objects (at least 10 or more)

What to do:

  1. Caregiver is to place an assortment of green objects around the house. (Ensure to hide them where they might be difficult to spot). Explain to your child that  he/she is to hunt for and find green objects all around the house
  2. Go along with them on the hunt to assist with finding the green objects. Have your child count objects as they are found.
  3. Remember to talk to your child about what is found and praise them when correctly spotting a green item. You may also talk about light green versus dark green as your child encounters them to create this awareness.
