Activity 1 

Creative Art Activity: Making a toilet roll man 

Duration: 20-30 minutes

What do I need? 

  • Toilet roll holder 
  • Pipe cleaners 
  • Old pieces of fabric 
  • Scissors 
  • Glue 
  • Hair pompom
  • Marker

What to do: 

  • Have your child make holes in a toilet roll *(parents/ caregiver to assist with punching holes) 
  • Then instruct your child to cut the pipe cleaner in half  with a scissor and thread the two halves through the holes for arms and legs 
  • Have him/her glue the hair pompom to the top of the toilet roll 
  • Allow them to cut up the old pieces of fabric for clothes 
  • The child then uses a marker to draw the face
  • They can make a whole family, if there are enough resources.
  • Encourage a puppet show using the completed characters.

Activity 2

Mathematics- Matching Activity

Duration: 20-30 min

What do I need? 

  • Bottle tops or Foam Cups 
  • A4 white paper 
  • Marker /Crayon  

What to do:

  • On a A4 sheet of paper allow your child to draw 10 circles on the paper with a crayon **(Parent please ensure that circles drawn a big enough for you child to draw many dots in)
  • In the 10 circles, the child then has to draw dots in each circle from 1 dot to 10 dots ( the last circle should have 10 dots)
  • On the bottle tops or foam cups, the child then writes the numbers 1 -10 on the top of each one. 
  • Let the child then match the bottle caps or foam cups to the correct number of dots on the page 
  • Your child can then finally write the amount done next to each circle. 

Activity 3

Physical motor: Playing Tennis  

Duration: 10-15 minutes 

What do I need?

  • Tennis racket or Paper plate 
  • Tennis ball  or any other small ball or balloon (if you are using a paper plate)

What to do:

  • Explain to your child that he/she will hitting a ball using different types of shots/techniques/styles. *Remember the use of more complex language with your child, will allow for greater learning opportunities. 
  • Next, caregiver is to throw the ball to the child. This should allow for practice opportunities for the following: forehand swing, backhand swing and overhead serve. Discuss the terms as they naturally happen or for future reference. 
  • This exercise allows for good midline crossing integration to take place.

If you do not have a tennis racket or it is too difficult for the child, make paper plate paddles and use a balloon practicing the same swings.
