* Caregiver to get child’s tooth paste and tooth brush out and have him/her squirt a pea-sized blob of tooth paste onto the brush.
Now allow your child to brush teeth on his/her own.
Talk to your child about brushing teeth the right way (up and down, round and round) to ensure that they get rid of the plaque and germs. Cleaning teeth sparkly clean.
Talk about gently brushing the gums as well as the importance and reason for flossing. (If you have floss available, show it to your child)
Have your child rinse his/her toothpaste and then put it away where it belongs.

Activity 2
Floss it out
Duration: 5 – 10 minutes
What we need?
White ice tray or the bottom of the plastic bottle
Play dough
Pipe cleaner or cotton or dental floss
What to do:
Place pieces of play dough in between ice tray/bottle gaps. (Explain to your child that play dough represents plaque and food that get stuck between our teeth)
Demonstrate to them using the pipe cleaner or yarn to floss out the play dough.
Now allow your child to do it on their own.
Activity 3
Mathematics marshmallow teeth counting
Duration: 10-15 minutes
What we need?
20 White mini marshmallows or popped corn or cotton wool balls (* parent to prepare ahead of time by breaking balls into rolling them into smaller little balls)
Pre-cut out mouth template*(Parent to prepare ahead of time by cutting out an oval shape out of red or pink cardboard)
Home-made glue (flour and water mixture) or glue
What to do:
Avail the oval shaped pre-cut out mouth template to your child.
Demonstrate to your child by placing 10 marshmallows inside the top half of the mouth and then 10 at the bottom half.
Count aloud while placing the marshmallows inside the mouth.
Now let your child place the marshmallows using the glue, by him/herself. Counting aloud while they place the marshmallows inside.
Your child may also draw and colour in a tongue inside the mouth.
